Autumn

It's a sparkling day today. Windows are open and easterly winds breeze in.
Now that sultry summer temps have passed, we're treating the house to fresh autumn air while our dining room chimes, relieved from still air,
 respond with a spirited tune.

Across the street, Bob washes his big, black truck which he'll polish until it gleams.
Next door, Carmen, sitting in her open garage, entertains dog walkers who stop by to chat.
And Barbara rings our doorbell, inviting us for home-made apple pie.

It's a good, good day in the neighborhood.
All is peaceful...all is calm. The hammock awaits...

As it should be! Love those colors, the hint of a cool breeze through those curtains...

My favorite time of year is when I can leave the bedroom door open.

My fingers pause over the keyboard as I wait for a whiff of wind to throw a line of music from your chimes my way. Regrettably, my way lies too far north for even an echo to reach me. They are so lovely. I'll just have to let my imagination do the work of wind and chime. Sigh.

These are the details I like to hear, what's happening in the neighborhood--I miss out on much of that, living in the country with a 150 ft. driveway--the homey details.

My mother is in a nursing home and I miss her emails so much because she always wrote of what she was fixing for supper, of going to the market, of her and my father going to their church's thrift store to drop off items. Those everyday details are what I crave.

As always, your photographs speak volumes. Lovely.
