Doing Nothing

Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing,
 of just going along,
listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering.
~~Pooh's Little Instruction Book

From my book shelves, I've rediscovered another little instruction book:
The Art of Doing Nothing by Veronique Vienne with photographs by Erica Lennard.
It's a Clarkson Potter publication from 1998.
I'm taking it to the doctor's office and plan to read chapter 10: the art of waiting.

I like the sound of this...and if I could do nothing while eating that chicken salad sandwich on your sidebar it would be a perfect day. Amazon carries this book but, alas, my library does not. There is always the interlibrary loan system to give me hope.

A doctor's office is definitely the appropriate place to learn the art of waiting :)

il dolce far niente....the sweetness of doing nothing!! A fave phrase that I heard over and over during my adventure in Italy!
I learned the true meaning of it from many elder Italians and continue to practice it now.
It makes one's soul grow richer...

This sounds like the perfect book to read this summer!!! I'll have to make sure I take my ADD medication before I open the book.

I must get this one! I just finished rereading her Art of Imperfection and the Art of Growing Up (is that the right title?). Her books inspire me each time I read them.
