Habemus Papem

An exciting day today!
I like Pope Francis' simplicity and humility.

I couldn't resist pulling out this picture of a Swiss guard from my archives.
From our tour of Italy in 2007.

It sounds like he has been selected now. May the Lord be with him.

I echo S. Etole's thoughts.

I am also so intrigued with the Swiss guard.

Agreeing with you, Becky, about his demeanour, the choice of name and what all that witnesses to us. He needs our prayers.

I was fortunate to turn the television on right before he appeared on the balcony and even knowing nothing about him was charmed by his friendliness with the crowd gathered, and his humility. I felt a sense of optimism as I listened to the translator. Perhaps he'll be a breath of fresh air.

I became obsessed with the coverage... All that history ... In my favorite place! Italy! Love the Swiss guard uniforms. Thanks to Michelangelo!
