What's in a name?

I always wonder as I wander along the docks at Marker 4.
So many boats, so many stories,
each beginning with a name...

H-Bomb?
Really?

It would be fun to name a boat....have a boat.....go out in a boat.....see a boat.....getting a little bushed in snow country! (no boats here!)

They probably thought they got a lot of Bang for the Buck when they bought it :-)

A couple of names spotted on the British canals - moored outside a pub "Cirrhosis Of The River" and my favourite "Slopalong Placidly"

I love this post and smiled at the names and also at John's mention of to names made me giggle.
We had a cabin cruiser which we bought used, it came with the name "The Sea Imp" One time my husband and the boys were travelling through a lock in the Great Lakes and behind was a boat - the woman called out and squinted "what is the name of your boat" to which one of the smarties responded "we lost a letter".

Hello Becky.
Great pictures you show.
Our boat has no name - only Flipper 515, which is marked on the motor boat.
Maybe we should baptize it?
Wishing you a good day / good new week.

Hello Becky.
Thank you for your comment.
Maybe it was a good idea to baptize the boat - it's a trailerbåd so it is not in port.
I have submitted Valter it - a bottle Champangne / a gold chain with diamonds / a picture - then I would give the boat a name ..... smiles.
Wishing you a good day / good new week.

Boats are great fun. I love a good sail.
I have always preferred boating in a nice, maintenance free OPB.
So much easier and relaxing.

Boat people can be very creative. I like Rune's explanation!

Thanks for the visit, glad you are feeling woodsy. That is a constant state for me!

i think names in general are fun!
i don't have a boat. but the name of my cottage is
"wee blink bonny"
meaning small pretty place.
i bought it after my wonderful husband died. he loved me dearly but i don't think he would have lived in a place called
"wee blink bonnie!"
so now it's like my own little land locked boat.
fun post. cool pictures as always!
love,

I used to work at an amusement park which had a marina. I was always amazed by the names some people gave their boats. I figured one of the reasons I would never own one was that I wasn't clever enough to come up with a name.

I'll have to send you a pic of our boat name and graphic....we celebrated when we decided what it would be and it's perfect for us..
We decided naming your boat is just as hard as naming your kids!!
