Changing places...

I've been a less-than-attentive blogger for the last month or so.
And I apologize for not visiting you as often as I wished.
It's because of all the changes.

First, the move from our fall/winter/spring home in Florida
to our summer place in Iowa.

We're "learning" everything all over again, getting re-acquainted with our new old place.
Finding the answers to where we keep the cereal bowls,
the shaker of lemon pepper, and the dish detergent.

It's a simple place~~short on material possessions, humble and practical.
A good thing, we note, when we see the many shifting properties
and busy schedules of our children's growing families.

Our bedroom is a sanctuary after attending ballgames, birthday parties, and family runs~~
a soft place to fall after a day or two of helping with a garage sale
meant to clear irrelevant goods from our son's house. More space is needed for their active toddler.

And then there's the big change across town~~our daughter
and her family are packing up all of their earthly possessions for a move to a larger house~~
changing schools, neighbors, living spaces, and day-to-day routines.
We're about to pitch in on the transfer of goods.

Love this home of yours Becky.. so lovingly styled.. simple and elegant..

So.. do you ever see winter? probably not... I think winter should just be reserved for short vacations.. haha

Hope you are enjoying your time with family.. I imagine it will be a little sad to see that cradle go onto a new home.... many memories held within..

Have a great week.. don't worry about being absent.. I have been too.. blogger is such a pain i just gave up for a while.. ciao xxx Julie

So much change requires courage,eh? It has been five months for us. Your bedroom is cozy and beautiful. And we are nearly neighbors.

So glad you are having a wonderful time with your family...We miss you down here!

Today, we had our first rain in weeks. It was beautiful....even when the power was knocked out. This evening, the grass and plants looked so much more vibrant...

You have such a peaceful touch, Becky - I feel I could walk in there and breathe freely in the restful silence. It's beautifully minimalist without being at all stark. I hope you have a great summer stay.

What a beautiful spot you have in Iowa Becky..I love your place in Florida too! I often wonder what it must be like to have two homes and split your time between the two. My husband and I often talk about it...I think it could be the solution to our lifestyle problems with our children living around the globe. I hope you write more about your experiences. :)

Beautiful photos as always, thanks for sharing and for your very kind comment.

Your place is lovely in its simplicity, such a feeling of tranquility. This is something I should remind myself of as I slowly rid myself of possessions I no longer need. Perhaps as I learn to live with less, serenity will find its way in.

Your home is a study in simplicity and beauty. Mine tends to be cluttered with many things, and it is hard to pare down. I agree with Julie that seeing the cradle go would be a little sad...

Becky, this home fits you perfectly, simple, classic lines.
This must be fun to be back among family members for summer fun, moving, ball games, etc.
Have fun.

Ahhh. To be surrounded by the life and buzzing of family....and then to retreat to the simple peace and slice of quiet.

You have everything.

What a pretty peaceful place you have. Love the bedroom and it really does look like a retreat. Thanks for your sweet comments. I have had a hard time with blogger these days and not visiting much of anyone.

"the white infant's cradle, that rocked all three of our grandsons,
now waits for a garage sale attendee to give it a new home."

Oh, don't sell that. I have mine in the attic. Hope to bring it out when someday when a new life arrives.

Iowa - lovely place to spend the summer. Your home looks like quite the perfect retreat. Can I stay there?

That's a beautiful home. Your reality is so far from mine, in which I come up with a new arrangement for each of my possessions in a new home every few months. Last night it was my cell phone charger: it has a new home, and in a month will need a new arrangement as I move somewhere else.
